I don't know about you, but for most of my life I allowed fear to hold me back. I like comfortable, consistent, planned, a known outcome. It's safe there. I'm confident there.
Here's the problem with safe, it holds you and your dreams hostage.
Maybe your comfort zone is "good enough." It's not great. It's not exceptional. But it's good enough for you to get by. Or, perhaps your comfort zone is painful. It's not even up to the status of good enough. But, it's what you know ... and since you don't know any other way, you'd rather stay in a not so great place because at least you know how to handle it.
Here's the thing, we weren't made for good enough.
YOU weren't made just for good enough.
And you definitely weren't made to live stuck captive in a heart-wrenching, hurtful situation. But the sad truth is, more often than not, we do stay there. It's easier than the alternative of taking a leap of faith into the unknown. I held myself captive for too long. Maybe you have too.
Why settle for good enough when you were created to be exceptional?
This past year I was introduced to a book by Rachel Hollis, Girl, Wash Your Face. I had no idea when I picked up that book, that the woman behind it would help propel me into a life unlike any I'd known before. Through Rachel's book, live morning show on Instagram, two podcasts: Rise and Rise Together ... etc... I've been inspired and motivated to say yes to the dreams God put in my heart. I decided to believe this truth:
It's time to stop letting other people's dreams dictate my schedule, what I aim for, and how I live my life.
This past December, I resigned from a 14 year career. In the days since, I've been falling in love with my life again. I made the choice: my dreams matter. I believe your dreams matter too. This doesn't necessarily mean you quit your day job. What it does mean, is you give yourself permission to dream, and start actively, intentionally making those dreams become a reality.
This website/blog/space on the internet is only the start of where my dreams are taking me. If you're reading this, you are starting this journey with me in real time. If my posts seem all over the map, it's because I'm refining my content, learning who my audience is, and looking for feedback on what content you want to hear from me most.
When you subscribe to this blog, you're letting me know you want "in" on this exciting new endeavor. Thanks for coming alongside me! I can't wait to get to know you better, and hopefully help inspire you to chase hard after your own dreams. It's definitely worth it!
